Women’s Day 2019 Celebration in Narasaraopeta Engineering College

Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated to acknowledge woman’s contribution to society and life, and everything in between. After years of systematic denial from education and knowledge, Women now are at the forefront in all spheres of life.

“A woman is the full circle.
Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform”
~ Diane Mariechild

On this occasion, Narasaopeta engineering college, Guntur recognized and cherished women’s political, economic, and social achievements over the years.

Giving ideas on Women empowerment, Mrs Suhasini Mittapalli said, “Women are not anymore confined to the matters of taking care of the family”. From entertainment, sports, science, army, to politics, Women are holding important decision-making positions”
Further, she added ” NEC has been providing a platform for women faculty and girl students to bring out their talents and ideas” I am proud to say that we have received 44 publications by women faculty in last 4 years” ” When it comes to placements, our girls have given strong competition to boys with a 3:1 placement ratio. She highlighted “Poor menstrual hygiene and lack of facilities at schools are some of the major causes of the increasing drop out rates among girls”

To put words into actions, Narasaraopeta Engineering college has taken the initiative to promote the use of the sanitary napkin in the region. NEC will be installing SANITARY NAPKIN VENDING MACHINE and a DESTROYER in the college.
A survey has revealed that just 12 per cent of Indian women have access to sanitary pads, and nearly 20 to 30 per cent of girls in North India drop out of school after they start menstruating.

She ended her speech with the line ” Educate a woman and you educate her family. Educate a girl and you change the future.”

Further, to educate and empower women in Narasaraopeta, NEC has plans to conduct educational and skill development drives for women. NEC being the torch bearer of technical education in the Palnadu region since two decades is on a mission to touch people’ lives in more intricate ways.

Happy Women’ Day!
