Narasaraopeta Engineering College, Guntur, in association with Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society, Government of Andhra Pradesh, conducted a Interactive session on “Food Processing” for farmers, Farmer Cooperatives, and enthusiastic entrepreneurs during 4-5 December 2019. The objective of the workshop was to educate, train, and motivate farmers on food processing methods and possibilities.
Various Technologies were displayed on food processing and products by
NRDC (National Research Development Corporation) to the farmers and farmer produce organization.
Further, an interaction session was held between FPO’s and Industries to understand the marketing process. Representatives from Farmer Produce Organization (FPO) attended the event and shared their ideas with the farmers.
Shri Sridhar Reddy, CEO of Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society was the guest of honor, along with Shri Kartheek , NABARD group, Sujatha Garu, Deputy Director of Department of Horticulture, Shri Venkateswarulu, Lead District manager of Andhra Bank, and Shri Maheswar Reddy , Senior Scientist in National Research Development Corporation (NRDC)
Speaking on the event, Mr. Sridhar Reddy said that the FPO’s and farmers should become like an entrepreneur to get more profit for their Agri crops. Further, he mentioned that a total of Ten lakhs rupees has been given as subsidiary to the food processing units.
He highlighted that there is a huge opportunity in food processing sector, so the farmers can develop their own food products and increase their revenue for their family, state and the country
Vice chairman of NEC group of Institutions, Mr. M. Chakravarthi disclosed the commitments made by NEC as the institute is ready to encourage FPO’s by connecting them to the student community by doing the needed interventions for developing the food processing sector to increase the farmers revenue.
He also mentioned how students will be interacting and work closely with FPO’s for the development of their products for branding and manufacturing and marketing their products.
On a closing note, Mr. Chakravarthi revealed that NEC is going to establish a Food processing cluster with the help of the state and the central government and help encourage farmers (FPOs) and industrialists to establish food processing units in the region.

Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society (APFPS) was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Act in November 2012 to act as a nodal agency for the development of the Food Processing Sector in the State.
The Secretary to Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh is the Chairman of the Society. The Commissioner / Director in charge of allied sectors including Agriculture, Horticulture, Marketing, Animal Husbandry and KVIC are members of the society.
