The quest for knowledge forms the bedrock of innovation. Educational institutions should play a key role in nurturing the innovation of their students. That’s the reason, the National Science Day, which is annually held on 28th February, is celebrated with educational fervour across India. Tech fests and exhibitions have been a normal sight in many of the educational institutions. But, Narasaraopeta Engineering College, one of the top engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh, India, explores for different events that would be held across India to make their students reach the national level on par with their national peers.
A few of young minds from the Narasaraopeta Engineering College students are going to participate in the Smart India Hackathon, which is a pan-Indian event. Organized across 10 nodal centres, the Smart India Hackathon is a collaborative work of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Inter-Institutional Inclusive Innovation Centre (i4c), and Persistent systems.
This year the 2nd edition of ‘Smart India Hackathon’ is going to be special as the organisers announced two sub-editions namely, Software edition and the new hardware edition. A total of 45 plus ministries of Government of India (GoI), and around 18 state governments expressed interest in this event. They are expecting some takeaways from this event like Technological innovations that would be useful for the governance and valuable solutions for the growth-dragging problems.
Some of the domain-specific themes centred on this event are Clean water technologies, Drones and robotics, Technology for rural development, Import substitution, and so forth. Around ten students from Narasaraopeta Engineering College are going to attend this amazing event with their tech-based experiments on Location-based services offline routing mobile application and Highway agents. The college is hopeful on their students’ projects, which if proven successful will be a great thing in the history of the college. The commitment from the administration of Narasaraopeta engineering college to send their students to the national events is laudable.
