Narasaraopeta Engineering College sets up ARC (Advanced Robotic Control Lab) in association with ECM (European Centre for Mechatronics & APSSDC-Germany
In November 2018, the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) signed a milestone MOU with a Germany-based APS European Centre for Mechatronics (ECM) under which Indo-European Skilling Centres were proposed to be developed across engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. As per the partnership, these centres are slated to provide education and training in mechatronics and industrial robotics usage to students and faculty members.
Narasaraopet Engineering College (NEC) has been selected as unique “Indo German cluster of Mechatronics and Manufacturing” in cooperation with European Center for Mechatronics, German Center for Advanced Studies and Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation(APSSDC). With this initiative college providing an opportunity for students to learn low-cost automation with German experts support at the college itself in the name of Applied Robot Control (ARC) programme. This Programme consists of three phases namely ARC 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. 80 best students from ECE, EEE and Mechanical Engineering were selected for this training who got more than 1.25 Lakh INR worth training with an opportunity towards core engineering placements and higher education in Germany.
Narasaraopeta Engineering College also invested and received funding from Germany for Advanced Robotics Control Lab, where the college has a set of two robots which will focus more than 69% of Automation needs in India. The days are gone without automation in small scale industries too. Indian small scale industry needs a solution with affordable automation costs. NEC providing a chance for students to learn during their studies and providing a chance to Indian manufacturing Industries to achieve their goal of our students and faculties. Two Igus low-cost automation robots in NEC are capable of doing pick and place operation, able to work un-natural conditions, car industry, logistics and any other mechanical and electronic industry. NEC faculties were trained in Germany and are providing their knowledge to the students along with regular hand-holding sessions from Germany online.
Mr Chakravarthi, Vice-chairman of NEC is very dynamic and grabbed this opportunity as one of the first colleges in the state by visiting the research centres in Germany. He also working on upgrading the facilities in order to get the best practices for student learning. As a result, NEC got established Dassault Systems Laboratory in association with APSSDC recently. Also, Mr.Chakri is nurturing his plans towards establishing Excellence Centre on 3D Printing.
ARC is definitely a unique program and the initiation was taken as “Research Presence in India by Germany” by Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany with a couple of more partner by Steinbeis Global Institute Tubingen.
As our state is focusing the manufacturing, NEC is ready with their students by providing this kind of unique opportunities.
On 2nd November 2019, Sri Challa Madhusudhan Reddy, Honorable Chairman-APSSDC inaugurated ARC and Dassault Systems Labs in the presence of Sri Lavu Krishnadevarayalu, MP, Narasaraopet; Sri Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy, MLA, Narasaraopet along with Vice Chairman Sri.M.S.Chakravarthi and other Management Members, faculty and students. Students who successfully completed the ARC 1.0 course are awarded certificates of competency on the above occasion.
Faculty details
The two senior faculties Dr.B.Venkata Siva, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Sk. Zuber Basha, Assistant Professor of ECE were sponsored by the management of NEC to get training at RWTH University, AACHEN, Germany over real-time industrial robots by German Experts and are imparting their knowledge to the students along with regular hand-holding sessions from Germany through online.
Dr.D.Suneel, Dean (Academics) & Head of Department of Mechanical Engg is acting as SPOC (Single Point of Contact) for this ARC Programme.
What is Mechatronics?
Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary field which offers knowledge of mechanical, electrical, telecommunications and computer science engineering to the students. Kia and Isuzu Motors have started industries in Andhra Pradesh as a part of Made in India and Make in India programmes. These industries profusely use Robots in their production units.
