Report on Industrial Visit to Mittapalli Spinners by NEC II B.Tech
Electronics and Communication Engineering Students (2020 Batch)in Jan 2021
As a part of Academics students are required to visit industries in order to get the practical knowledge and industrial exposure. Hence,
the II Year I Semester students of Electronics and Communication Engineering had visited the Mittapalli Spinners Limited, Narasaraopet on23rd January 2021. 26 students accompanied by one faculty visited the above said industry.
The industry is located near Narasaraopet of Guntur District, A.P. The address of Mittapalli Spinners is given below:

About the company:
Mittapalli Spinners Limited is a Public incorporated and is classified as Non-government Company. It is involved in Spinning, weaving and finishing of textiles. It produce high quality yarn of all types by using raw cotton
Machinery &the Process Details:
The following are the details of machinery and process details
- Mixing:
An uniform end product consistently from highly variable characteristics of input fibres, mixing of different lots is done.
- Blow room:
Blow room consists state of art machines that carry out Opening, Cleaning, thorough Mixing and decreasing the tuft size smaller and smaller, to feed material to Carding uniformly and continuously. Blow Room line is equipped with world class technology cotton contamination sorter like JOSSI.
- Carding:
“Card is the heart of the spinning mill" and “Well carded is half spun" are two proverbs of the experts. The purpose of Carding is to open tufts to individual fibres, neps reduction, elimination of dust and orientation of fibres into sliver form. In Our Installation we are having a flexibility to run different processes.
- Drawing:
The object of draw frame is to double and draft the slivers and thereby make even sliver and parallelization of fibres i.e. hooks created at Carding are removed. The Machines are equipped with 1000mm cans to avoid no.of joints which directly effects quality of final yarn.
- Lap Former:
The object of Lap Former is preparation of Lap from slivers with optimum parallelized fibres and feeding of trailing hooks from Carding as leading hooks at Comber to reduce long fibre loss in the noil.
- Comber:
Combing is the process which is used to upgrade the raw material and to produce an improvement in yarn quality by elimination of short fibres, elimination of remaining impurities and elimination of neps.
- Drawing:
The object of Fr. draw frame is to double and draft the slivers and thereby make even sliver, parallelization of fibres and auto levelling of linear density variations in feeding to get constant linear density of output sliver.
- Simplex:
The object of Simplex is to produce roving suitable to feed Ring frame by means of attenuation – drafting of sliver, twisting the drafted strand and winding the twisted roving on a bobbin. The machinery is equipped with automatic tension controls to produce better quality of roving in order to get best quality of yarn.
- Spinning:
Functions of Ring frame are to draft the roving until the required fineness is achieved, to impart strength to the fiber, by inserting twist and to wind up the twisted strand (yarn) in a form suitable package. The Machinery is equipped with complete auto doffing and link system. By introducing this system, they are able to reduce material handling and avoid unwanted stain marks on yarn. With this auto doffing facility on their ring frames they are having more flexibility in producing wide range of counts.
- Autoconer:
The object of Autoconer is to eliminate the faults and contamination in yarn and joining the ends with splice and winding of long and continuous yarn into conical shape to facilitate at further processes. The latest art of technology’s LINK CONERS equipped with AUTO DOFFERS. With the help of these machines they are totally avoiding manual material handling which will directly help them in maintaining best quality of yarn.
- Packing:
In Packing Section they check each and every Cone for visual defects and UV light inspection with the help of this practice they are able to build the confidence of their valued customers for better in supply of better quality yarn. They can produce the package as per the customer requirement.
Conclusion:
Students are satisfactorily understoodall the processes and the products available in the factory.
