Scilab is an open source numerical, programming and graphics environment. It is capable of interactive calculations just like MATLAB. Automation of computations is also possible in it through programming. It provides all basic operations on matrices via built-in functions. SCILAB can be programmed to produce simple or fancy graphical user interface components.
